All Stage 1 students must complete 40 hours of unpaid voluntary community work for their compulsory Service Learning unit in their own time.
This program is designed to develop each student’s sense of community and appreciation of the value of volunteering. It is also a way of acknowledging the fine contribution that many of our students are already making in their community.
Completion of Service Learning is a compulsory requirement for all Victor Harbor High School students in order to graduate from Stage 1.
Students will complete a series of preparatory activities, keep a learning journal and write a reflective report that must be placed in their Transition Portfolio. Students keep track of the hours they have completed using a logbook.
Once the 40 hours are completed each student will receive a certificate and a badge. Mentor teachers and Mrs Cowper will provide students with support and guidance in completing their Service Learning requirements.
